If you are looking for a full pack of gameplay, then Pilotwings Resort (Nintendo 3DS) will not disappoint. Nintendo has encompassed a lot of action pack for the new version of this game although it sports a very basic exterior, style and premise.

Structure

PilotWings Resort (Nintendo 3DS) is not the same as Wii Resort. Although it is formatted as groups of challenges, these are not considered as mini-series games. PilotWings Resort (Nintendo 3DS) is structured into two big sections: Free Flight Mode and Mission Flight Mode.

The Free Flight Mode allows aircraft selection ranging from basic propeller planes to fighter jets. You head over to WuHu Island to explore and collect items within a stipulated time frame.

The game takes you flying over landmarks while forcing you to find new discoveries at cleverly hidden corners and nooks at the island. There are narrow tunnels, volcanoes and jagged rocks which test your coordination skills while maneuvering the aircraft.

Heart of the game

The main focus of PilotWings Resort (Nintendo 3DS) is to collect as many items as possible to unlock more discoveries in the game. Your collections can contribute to additional play time in the Free Flight Mode whereas Mission Flight Mode requires a completion of certain goals within stipulated parameters.

There will be varying demands that get more challenging at higher stages which can be mind boggling with various classes like training, bronze class, silver class, gold class and platinum class.

Grading Criteria

The PilotWings Resort (Nintendo 3DS) player is graded on several criteria: accuracy in shooting targets, reaching destinations, speed in activity completion and types of activities completed.

There are stars to be acquired and missions in specific groups to be completed before progressing to other areas of play. Three stars per level can be attained although the play gets more challenging at each stage.

Downside

A couple of downsides can be found in PilotWings Resort (Nintendo 3DS) where an unskilled player may encounter some difficulty in the control of the game especially in different types of aircraft.

This version of PilotWings Resort (Nintendo 3DS) does not offer multi-player facility, StreetPass support or custom soundtracks. Certain built-in functions available in other systems seem to be missing here although they are not the crucial components.

There’s a great and exciting game in town that will keep you glued for hours. It is the Solatorobo: Red The Hunter (Nintendo DS). A great name to kick start your excitement – Solatorobo – which means "Sky and Robot" is really about a robot-human in double action as per its tagline.

Solatorobo: Red The Hunter (Nintendo DS) is a sequel in a spiritual sense to the previous Tail Concerto PS1 RPG that came on 13 years ago. Namco Bandai in that game was an ordinary Bandai although it brought much action with great ideas, charm and personality all beautifully crafted together in spades.

Overview

Solatorobo: Red The Hunter (Nintendo DS) has its hero Solatorobo, a daredevil fox-dog riding on Dahak, a robot, around the world islands that are dominated by French speaking anthropomorphic dogs and cats. Red the Hunter and Chocolat, his sister are sky pirates looking for adventure. They found it in a magical medallion which they stole from a battleship which caused an army of baddies hot in their pursuit.

Intriguing twists

The Solatorobo: Red The Hunter (Nintendo DS) game might start off rather predictably with its RPG magical artifacts and mysterious orphans along with an evil that threatens to destroy the planet with many diversions spiraling off in various directions.
You can leisurely tackle any sector to build up the ranking of Red Hunter in various quests as Red The Hunter is really a lovable, if pompous character.

Downside

Too much slow scrolling dialogue can be trying for many gamers to keep the pace of excitement constantly. Some animated cut scenes are done quite smoothly but there is no voice-over in the game. This can be a plus point for others who like to let their imagination run wild while others can find it disruptive to the story flow.

Character Build up

Solatorobo: Red The Hunter (Nintendo DS) allows its characters to be developed. For example, big orange Dahak, Red's robot, can lift its big arms to hammer its enemies up and down until they are obliterated. New models of Dahak can come on with upgrade modules while Red need not stay on Dahak all the time.
He can wander on foot to explore dungeons and other quirky locations. Red The Hunter can also be transformed into a human to continue with his conquests.

Continuation of a legacy

The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of TIme 3D (Nintendo 3DS) was announced in 2010 and was almost an instant hit in the gaming community. For gamers who are new to the game, there has been some understanding of the original 1998 version. That was the game that brought in Zelda into the 3D world of gaming. There were several variations in terms gameplay, graphics etc. In fact the scope of the game has left fans and critics equally stunned.

The original was released several number of times. Master Quest was added as a bonus along with Zelda: Wind Maker. The critics are of the opinion that Zelda is one of the stronger storylines that has helped sustain the franchise. There are some evergreen themes of courage, as well as friendship, that of brotherhood and that of greed as well.

You will be playing as a link and will be working along line with Hyrule’s Zelda and her several allies who are working to fight against Ganondorf who like all other villains wants to take over the world. As Link, you will be flitting between two time zones – one where you are young and another where you are older. As the ocarina you can open up closed areas and travel to places even before the sun comes up.

The plot of the game is good and works with some generic designs that go a long way in improving the quality of the game. You pick up three items, and open up the door to six after which you have a complete showdown to look forward to. All along you will be collecting a number of spiritual stones as well as medallions along the way. There are some times when you realize in any other game, it would have been quite a cheap tactic to lengthen the duration of the game. But then with this game, you know that you have a good deal.

There are some simple puzzles to play with and others a little bit more complex. The dungeons level is gorgeous with several of them designed beautifully. There are some of dungeons that may seem repetitive but that don’t really affect the quality of the game. The landscape is brilliant with a number of new scenes to look through. Hyrule fields, the lake, Death mountain etc as well as the Gerudo Desert are some of the great scenes to look forward to.

Three new characters make an entry in Birth By Sleep – Ventus, Terra and Aqua. They come in as close friends of the protagonist. You will use all three characters to help you open up newer mysteries as you go along. Birth By Sleep is quite familiar in terms of playing it despite the characters being different. There are several stories such as that of friendship, good v/s evil, darkness over light and more. It is also a cross between Square and Disney.

This prequel has most of the good and bad points of the games that came before this. The platform is still a bit clumsy and the camera as well as the lock-in system needs some fine tuning to get rid of all the awkward play. There is also a bit of repetition in the structure of the game. The fun part is the number of cameos one finds from the world of Disney. New players will find the game a little stop and start, while old players will be able to maneuver fast enough to have a good amount of fun.

The opening of the game introduces you to the three main characters of the game and their respective adventures. At this point you can decide which game to take on. You will have to do this again in the course of the game to determine the different angles of the game. The main story has all the makings of a brooding Square/Enix story. There are a number of friendship based movements, troubled relations etc. You will also be fighting alongside some of the famous characters of Disney such as Prince Charming you will have to protect Snow White from attackers etc. You will find that the scenarios are repeated often but this is just the basic structure of the entire game.

There are a number of character based tasks that the game makes you undertake. You will find a number of different bosses and meet several Disney characters along the way. You will also c onstantly bump into the lead characters as you are making your way through the game. The more time you spend with Ventus and Aqua, the better it will be for your game.

A lot of care has gone into making each environment created a friendly one. Some of them are downright boring and others have been inspired from several films around the time. You have Cinderella’s pumpkin carriage, and Snow White’s field of sunlight. Overall a fun game even if there is a lot of repetition.

Not too innovative yet fun Kirby: Mass Attack, from Nintendo DS

Kirby: Mass Attack, from Nintendo DS, begins with Nintendo’s mighty fall that was part of another Kirby-based game, under the Pokemon series, Mario games, as well as the The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword that was for Wii.

From the time he made his debut, Kirby has been the cutest and the most consistent of all the Nintendo lineup. In this touch game, Kirby: Mass Attack, Necrodeus is an evil guy whos weapon is a magic cane. This manages to split Kirby into 10 copies. The game is about Kirby going off on a journey to find his original self and at the same time save Planet Popstar from impending darkness.

All of Kirby’s duplicates are controlled with the touchscreen and can be maneuvered in several ways. You will have to tap the Kirby and then tap the screen at the point you want him to go. You can do this for multiple Kirbys. What you can also do is flick them into the air like badminton shuttles. If you want the Kirby to fly a really long distance then you have to long press the stylus on your collection of Kirbys and draw out the path you want them to go on.

The negative part about the line is that your control methods have a time limit. All the enemies are defeated when the Kirbys are piled onto them and hammered down. In Boss fights Kirbys have to be launched. With some other enemies you will have a particular number of Kirbys to use. Eating more will give you more Kirbys and so always try and get your fruit pig meter to hit 100 and spit out another Kirby.

As you play through the levels you may find yourself a bit nostalgic about earlier Mario games that you may have played. They all seem to give off such a feeling. This is good in the sense that you have a good idea of how to play the game and bad part is that there nothing really innovative about the whole game.

There is some level of re-playability but you will not really be able to use this all the time for lack of Kirbys or for the different direction that you may be taking with your time lines. You will find a number of medals and the like hidden at different points all around the levels. These are in addition to a number of secret passageways. If you collect all of these medals etc, you will also be able to play a number of smaller games.

The game has a number of controls to work with and they are all easy to maneuver.

If you have a good eye for spotting differences in a photograph or picture against picture that has purposely been altered to one or two things different, then this Nintendo DS game is for you. The objective of the game is to spot the difference and you are a winner in this hard-to-resist puzzle game. There are some people that like there knock them out games and driving games but then there are people out there that stress the brain with all types of puzzles. Brain teasers are another way of looking at them. You can compete collectively or individually in fast paced photo fun, using just one Nintendo DS game cartridge for up to four players! You will be able to entertain yourself for hours. There are over 200 themed photographic puzzles that means hours of fun for players of all ages! As long as they are able to look at a picture side by side and then be able to pick out the differences.

Let’s use a dog as an example, if you had two photographs together then one may have a few things missing like a spot or a collar or even an ear. The challenge is to find as many as fast as you can against your opponent. Own the game that everyone already loves! The Nintendo DS game is called Foto Frenzy! Once again you will be able to play with up to four players using one cart; there are over 5,000 challenges and more than 200 puzzles. I like the fact that it will not keep you guessing, when you get tired there is a solve button to touch screen so you will be able to see the difference. See there is no reason to get frustrated because you will eventually have a way to see the answer of you give up.

This would be a great gift for an older person who likes to sit and read because they could use the game instead. They may have to invest in a Nintendo DS PDA but let’s face it if they want to keep up with technology they may have one already and this would be a good game for them. There are others out there that would go with this type of entertainment so they wouldn’t think it was only think game.

ATV Quad Kings – Nintendo DS game

This game is for the four-wheel fanatics that have to have all the tracks to drive you crazy. Not only do you want to drive them but you will feel the need to try and pull of stunts. You will be able to head to nine different locations around the world for races that are full of tricks and stunts and it will not be you doing them all in ATC Quad Kings on this Nintendo DS game.

You must know that for each quad buggy there will be different designs so you can tell them apart and you will name your opponent. During the races you will see who rides with the better suspension, acceleration, and speed. You will notice the handling and braking as each one runs and rides the track. Of course, there is always money to be made at a race track and this Nintendo DS game is not any different so you know there will be some betting on the side. Besides how else will you be able to see the money so you can finish customizing the vehicles you race?

What types of conditions will be around you while you are driving anything to slow you down, spin you out or throw you into another quad. You will see soiled areas; grass, water, and rain affect the racing conditions on each course. As for this Nintendo DS game the ATV Quad Kings, the levels of difficulty come in four. Be ready for the challenges and the racers that you will take on who vary in their skills since they come from all over the world. Their goal is to take you down. There are a total of 35 races to keep you entertained for quite some time.

Alice in Wonderland – Nintendo DS game

If you are not familiar with a Nintendo DS PDA let me give you a brief description of one. The rectangular Nintendo DS is about the same size and shape as a contemporary PDA. It has a clamshell design, with a conventional display screen above, centered on the inside of the lid, and a touch-sensitive screen, which can be used for both display and control, on the bottom of the unit. The two screens are aligned, one directly above the other, when the Nintendo DS is opened for use. Both screens are about three inches measured diagonally, comparable in size to the screen on a Game Boy.

What you do is purchase individual Nintendo DS games or cartridges for the system and this one that we are discussing is “Alice in Wonderland” which was inspired by a Disney film. She returns and goes down the rabbit hole. The game is considered action adventure and has cartoon graphics. The system allows Alice to obtain abilities and powers as she beats the challenges she is faced with while she is going through the story. During the story you will see various characters like the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit, and the Cheshire Cat. She uses them to help her explore as she goes through the story to get to the end. Of course, each character can do something special and has special powers for combat.

As usual things are not always what they appear to be so Alice has to play some of the most demanding puzzles in Wonderland which involve tricks and illusions. Additional features to this Nintendo DS game is that it makes use of the built in camera which becomes available when the game is played in a DSi handheld device. You do get to see the Red Queen’s minions and some of the others like the Jabberwocky and these are characters you would have seen in the movie. This is an interactive journey. This Nintendo DS game is based on the 2010 film directed by Tim Burton. Enjoy yourself with this tale as Alice journeys once again through Wonderland.

Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s Tagforce 4 on the Market

Fans of Yu-Gi-Oh! can now battle in the newest game either in single or multiplayer mode. The current installment is rated E for Everyone, so Yu-Gi-Oh! fans of all ages can enjoy being a part of the action.

Based on the television show Yu-Gi-Oh! Tagforce 4 being aired on The CW Kids’ Block and the Cartoon Network, the game allows players to feel like they are part of the show. The graphics in the game take the imagination from normal life into the world of New Domino City and the battle raging there between good and evil.

To keep the video game authentic, creators kept the story line from the show and created a rich world of Yu-Gi-Oh! to go. Two New My Hero Games

My Hero games by Majesco and Game Life take real life heroes and allow players to take their turn in life saving scenarios. My Hero: Doctor and My Hero: Firefighter were released November 17th to retailers everywhere, and are rated ages 10+ and E for everyone, respectively.

In My Hero: Doctor, players become a medical assistant. Players get to manage 10 medical emergencies and drive an ambulance through crowded and obstacle rich streets in a race to get the patient to the hospital on time. On scene and in route players will treat broken bones and heart attacks to reach the next level and unlock equipment and other supplies needed to successfully treat the next emergency.

Working through 13 hair-raising levels, My Hero: Firefighter allows players to take on the roll of being a neighborhood hero for the day. Rescue animals and people from burning buildings, put out forest fires, and race to the scene through crowded streets. This game packs adventure and roll playing into one.

Both games utilize the built in microphone and stylus for the DS. Depending on the game being played the stylus becomes a hose, a needle, a defibrillator, and a ladder, allowing for all the action to be easily accessed on screen. The graphics are rich and fairly realistic, giving players insight into what it really means to be a doctor or firefighter without the long hours or the risk of any real danger.

In addition to playing games, players will learn real life safety tips and survival skills that may be put to use in an emergency. A great way to combine playing and learning in a safe environment.

If these My Hero games are enjoyed, keep your eyes out for My Hero: Astronaut due to be released in early 2010. This game takes the My Hero adventures off Earth’s face and into space.

Sackboy Comes to PSP

LittleBigPlanet has landed on PSP this fall, along with Sackboy and the gang to bring a unique experience to fans, portable play. No, not the Indy 500, but Indiana Jones, everyone’s favorite archeologist. The adventures of Indiana and his friends are back in the Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues. Developed by Traveler’s Tales and produced by LucasArts Entertainment, this game combines action and adventure with the creative building fun that LEGO is famous for.

LEGO Indiana Jones 2 is a collective story game of all four of the Indiana movies, without being a remix of the original LEGO Indiana Jones game. In this game, players get to experience adventures from The Crystal Skull for the first time. Other first time experiences include new animations like Indy’s whip, where enemies can be captured then thrown over Indiana’s shoulder; environmental weapons like chairs, bottle, guns and swords; and exciting vehicle chases that have not been seen in the previous game.

Game makers kept the best features of the LEGO games in Indiana Jones 2. These include drop in and drop out two player modes, cooperative play, toggle character swapping, and many more. This time they took the two player mode to the ultimate; when characters split up, the screen splits allowing for players to discover different areas together. To reunite in the same game grid, players just run to the split line and magically appear on the same screen. This is sure to please many parents and put an end to sibling rivalry, at least during game time.

Probably the most inventive addition to LEGO Indiana Jones 2 is the building mode. This has never appeared in a LEGO adventure before. Players can now build their own chapters and levels, insert them in regular game play, and have a truly unique game experience. The build mode includes the same tools that the game’s creators use, and allow players to create a world limited only by their imaginations.

The graphic for F1 2009 for PSP are designed for the smaller play screen of the portable device. This means that players will enjoy the same realistic scenes and races that Wii players have come to love. F1 2009 includes all the circuits and delivers authentic game play.

F1 2009 is the first F1 game to include Lewis Hamilton and his McLaren 4-24 Formula One car. Hamilton’s premiere in a video game means that fans can take the wheel of his car and defend his current championship crown. If the player is not a fan, drivers Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso, and Sebastian Vettel, along with the rest of the Formula One roster have been included with their teams.

One of the main sticking points of this game are the controls. Gaming is one of the hottest pastime of this generation. Over the past years we have observed many of the benefits of gaming. Truly, this wasn't the intent at first. Primarily gaming was produced just for entertainment. However, as technology progressed, so too, did the advances in gaming.

So, lets take a look at some of these benefits that all ages get from gaming.

- Coordination
- Critical Thinking
- Problem Solving
- Socializing
- Communicating
- Competition
- Physical
- Fitness
- Fun

I have only touched on a low portion of the full diversity of benefits that gaming has to offer all who take part in the action. There are dozens more and I'm sure if you sat down and thought about all the aspects of gaming you will come up with multiple benefits yourself.

Many gaming software or online gaming have developed vast communities where all gamers come together and share ideas, secrets, and even trade. We make new friends, find new rivals to play against and do our very best to succeed and in doing so, we ramp up our own confidence and expertise in that particular gaming world.

Even our youngest gamers benefit academically through gaming. They are learning phonics, mathematics, science, technology, languages, critical thinking, problem solving, hand-eye coordination, creativity and so much more.

Our medical facilities have now jumped on board with using gaming software. What are they using gaming for? Let's take a look at some of the gaming benefits for the medical field. They are using gaming for Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation for their patients. Surgeons are using gaming for learning new procedures and practicing precision. Nurses also use gaming for their education. I guess you could say, I feel respectable about this because now I know I am not being used in the medical field as a guinea pig where trial and error is just the common factor. At least we can be assured, new procedures have been tested, tried and succeeded without risking a human or animal life.

Oh, and let us not forget our Military. They too, have climbed aboard in the gaming world. What a great way for our Military to build up their skills in strategy, combat, critical thinking, aiming and precision, tactics and this list can go on forever.

How about sports? Almost every sport you can think of, there is a game for it. Gaming has brought many honorable athletes out in the open. Practice it in the gaming software and then utilize it in the real game. It doesn't matter which sport it is, baseball, football, soccer, bowling, tennis, golf, boxing, and hundreds more.

The bottom line is, to criticize gaming is to breakdown all the benefits that gaming has provided to our culture. Gaming has made us better people, physically, emotionally and mentally. The next time you or your child are playing a game, stop and think about the benefits of the real game play that is going on. So, get gaming, have fun, play, learn. Gaming is molding your body and mind.
